COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our heaviest bodied ale, James Polk Porter is based on a beer first brewed in London in 1722. The beer was advertised as being richer and more nourishing than the lighter ales of the day, giving strength to porters and other laborers to accomplish their tasks. The heavy bodied ale is nearly black in color with ruby red highlights. It has a moderate hop rate and is characterized by coffee and chocolate flavors.

Dark mahogany color with a dense light tan head. Faint malt aroma. Dry vapid and insipid malt flavors. Only slight coffee and chocolate. Very boring ale.

Drank a pint of this yesterday on tap at the brewpub. Dark black with a light beige to white head. Excellent head retention. Delicious chocholate and roasted coffee flavor. Nice malt character to the body. Previous tastings of this were not as impressive. Currently the best of the Court Ave ales.
