3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 joshpiledean (313) - Seattle, USA - JAN 15, 2011
Tap at dg’s. Light pour, cloudy, typical yeasty phenols in the nose, and very nice clove notes, easy drinking and smooth. A bit less intensely flavored than some of the best, but a solid hefe.

Murky soft yellow. Swirling the yeast sediment at the bottom of the bottle and pouring it made the murky swirls drop down into the glass, eventually dispersing and transforming this beer from a transparent yellow runofthemill beer beer into a cloudy, almost perfect looking hefeweizen. The smell was quite sweet, citrus everywhere, big lemons and grapefruits, punkcy. Taste is a little less exciting. A bit bland, smooth oranges and lemons, not as acidic as the aroma hinted.

Pours a hazy yellow with a small head. The aroma is awesome with tons of banana and orange. The flavor is messy, lightly minerally with a off kind of perfume-y bitterness, there is lots of banana and some booziness, just seems a bit sweet and unbalanced but it seems like it could be brilliant with some tweaking, who knows. I do love the way this beer smells.

TAP: mostly clear light gold pour, clove on the nose, banana/clove on taste - very good Hefeweizen.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 drowland (3891) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 13, 2009
Tried at the 4th Annual Festival of Iowa Beers. Good Hefe smells but low carbonation and generally weak/watery flavor.

Perfectly clear. Nice clove in the finish. More clove than banana. A bit garbagy. Good flavors but something is just slightly off.

Served with a lime, but other than that fairly solid. Pale gold slightly hazy. Clovey, citric aroma, flavor is similar. Clove rich lemony with some bubblegun sweetness. Fairly light overall but not bad.

On tap at the brewpub. The body was a hazy dark gold. The aroma was lots of banana with light clove and some vanilla. The taste had some subtle bananas and some light cloves. This was simple and solid.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 GeneralGao (3545) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - SEP 3, 2006
Draught at 2nd Annual Festival of Iowa Beers. Hazy yellow color with bubbly white head. Prominent and distinct banana aroma and flavor with clove taking a back seat. This vintage lacked the bitterness mentioned in previous ratings. Good hefe.

This one had the traditional cloudy appearance and dull yellow color we expect from a hefeweizen. The rocky head was there along with the banana and clove flavors and smell. The hops were just there to balance. It served the purpose and was refreshing. Nothing outstanding.
