I’m fairly certain I had this years back, this go around I think I liked it a lot better. It’s wonderful what our breweries can do when they are legally allowed to fully attenuate their beers. This pours a bright golden with a small but tight head and good lace. The aroma has a big bubble-gum sweetness and a lot of pungent ripe fruit. The flavor is not nearly as sweet as the aroma with some very spicy notes. The beer is sweetest mid palate but once the warming alcohol takes over it’s really a fairly nicely balanced beer. Complimentary notes of bubblegum and citrus rind play on the spiciness and sweetness well.

On tap @ Court Avenue. Light golden yellow appearance. Spicy coriander, Belgian ale nose. Slightly spicy (coriander), somewhat fruity belgian golden ale flavor.

FoBAB 2008. Poured a clear golden color with a white head. Cereal grain, honey, and hints of clove and banana graced the aroma. Light to medium bodied and slightly sweet with mixed grains supported by subdued banana and clove. Didnt get much barrel. Decent.

FoBAB 08. Court Avenue starting winning some at the festival so I figured I would give their beers a try, but I didn’t think they were that great. Pours hazy gold with white head. Flavor is very sweet, too much sugar or something. Wasn’t that great.

FoBAB 2008, Chicago: ’Strong Belgian Golden Ale brewed with malted rye and oats, held "Port style" in Napa Valley wine barrels w/French oak infusion spirals’. That was the description in the festival program. What I had was something that was cotton candy in aroma and way too sweet in the flavor. Nice golden body and frothy white head, but the aroma was tough to deal with and the flavor was little more than sweet, sweet pale malt and white sugar.

FoBAB 2008 - pours hazy gold with white head. nose is sweet grainy, flavor of sweet grainy, oats, no wine notes, not very good at all.
