COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pointer Brown has a complex chocolate and caramel flavor. Our brewers use a combination of assorted Pacific Northwest hops to balance the slightly sweet character of the beer. It is deep reddish brown in color, smooth and full bodied with a pleasant semisweet finish.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear brown color; red around the edges. Head was off white and laced the glass. Smelled nutty and earthy, but the aroma was not very strong. Slightly sweet on the tongue. Subdued malty milk chocolate with a touch of roastiness in the background. Decent brown.

Pour is brown with little to no head...smell is sweet malts, nutty, then definately hoppy...taste is not "crazy complex" by any means...sweet up front, but bizarre spicy bitterness in the finish...not their best beer...

On tap @ Court Avenue. Dark amber brown appearance. Hazelnut brown malty nose. Low carbonation and slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Nutty, thick caramel malty flavor. Slightly nutty aftertaste.

Pours a reddish brown color with a medium head. The aroma is molasses and some bready bisciut-y things. This smells plenty malty. The flavor is lightly tart and toasty with some cherry and apple fruitiness. Mild but nice.

On tap at the brewpub in Des Moines. A simple yet pleasant beer here. Unlike the other offerings I tried throughout the night, there was nothing off about this one. In the aroma, some nutty dark malts, caramel, grains, and a non distinct hop in the background. It looked about like a standard brown would, with a medium-light body, light head, and straight brown color. The feel was nicely creamy with a bit of a bit. Good balanced notes in the flavor. Nutty dark malts, caramel, coffee, and earthy wood hop. Again, nothing special, but quite enjoyable.

Tried at the 4th Annual Festival of Iowa Beers. Touches of diacetyl in the flavor with malt backing. Aroma is a great fresh malt smell.

A bit of green apples in the aroma. Pretty basic brown, slightly reminiscent of Bender in some ways, but not nearly as good. Crystal malt evident.

Clear brown hued red. Creamy lacing off white head. Nutty roasted malt flavor, thin palate. Sweet malty aroma is subdued.

On tap at the brewpub. The body was a deep garnet with a light khaki colored head on top. The aroma was caramel with some apples and leather. The taste had some dark chocolate with some tea. There were also some interesting woody notes. The carbonation was soft in this solid but bland beer.
