sampled at Food and Froth. Nice beer, I understand it’s a pickup from a beer recipe from the 60s. We’re going to have to head to Manitowoc to sample some more. Nice and balanced between a malty Lager and something lighter.

Bronze color with a modest off-white head. Malty/grainy aromas perhaps what one would expect from a brew of the 60’s. Corn and pale malt flavors with a light hops presence. Enough malt to keep you interested, but light enough to make you want more.

This is a terrific surprise to see another beer brand of the past has been revived. White Cap beer was last brewed by the Two Rivers Beverage company in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, in 1966. After 40 years later of hibernation, it has returned to Manitowoc. Pours a pale golden yellow brew with a thin white head that dissolves to a fine lacing. Aroma of multi-grain malt with corn, and a slight fruity scent. Taste is light bodied, llightly carbonated, clean and easy drinking. Finish has a little grassy hop bite and very refreshing. A terrific 1960’s light popular style beer. According to the brewmaster, the Liebech family has shared the actual White Cap beer 1950-1960s recipe with the brewery and is continuing to produce this beer of the past.
