2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 chriso (7065) - London, - OCT 12, 2004
There have been quite a number of beers from this rejuvenated Suffolk micro on offer at recent beer festivals. This is not their best effort, although the excessive whiff of sulphur on the nose suggests this was not at its best. Once the sulphur disperses, undeveloped malt reveals itself in the aroma. The flavours include some dry malt and some hoppy bitterness, but nothing very distinctive. Too much "homebrew" character for my liking. An average best bitter. Cask (gravity dispense) at St Albans Beer Festival 2004.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ladnewton (910) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 30, 2009
Cask at Leyton Orient Supporters Club on 20th November 2009, during the Piglet festival. Amber with off white foam. Delicious smoky aroma with citric fruitiness. The two work in harmony creating a fine bi-directional flavour experience ending in a dryish finish.
