1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 ChainGangGuy (3837) - Canton, USA - JAN 16, 2010
Appearance: Pours out a hazy, orange-amber body with a shamefully large, foamy, off-white head.
Smell: Jeff’s PA has an earthy, tart-scented nose, an all-too ominous mingling of hops and forgotten fruits.
Taste: Faintly sweet bready malts yield to a jarring taste of turned apricot jam. Earthy, citric, sprucy hops with a moderate amount of bitterness. Final flourish of bitterness on the fizz-ridden finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Offensively over-carbonated.
Drinkability: As with their Ginger Bee Beer, it’s a poorly executed, unpleasant brew. Let’s get it together, Crabtree!

Was looking for something crisp and refreshing for this hot weekend anwd this does not disappoint - clear copper, lively pour - aroma is grassy hops, toasted grains, light doughiness, a bit of honey far in the back - flavor is initially a bit sweet, followed by a string toastiness (tastes a bit like Vienna malt, but can that be?) - dries out through the middle - Biscuity and moderately bitter - crisp finish, with a lingering bitterness/peppery hops - not diacetyl, as others have noted - a nice quaffable brew for this weather - underrated.

I have to say I am not a fan of Crabtree Brewing Company. I do like the taste of this beer, but common guys! YOUR BEERS HAVE WAY TO MUCH CARBONATION!!! Every beer I’ve had from your brewery blows up in my face... tone it down a notch and you may be on to something.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bhensonb (7583) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 9, 2010
Bottle from the brewpub. Pours light amber with a foamy off-white head. Aroma seems floral and citrus. Strange hop combination. Seems to finish off a bit woody. Some unusual taste transitions. Hard to pin them down - but it’s like hop going towards woody. Hmm.

A huge off white head with a dark gold body that is nearly amber underneath. The nose has some notes of soap and oranges. There is also a little bit of cake donut. The taste has some day old bread along with some dirt and mold. There is also a little bit of cardboard. Later in the glass, I got some oranges. This is actually ok to drink once you take a few sips.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2011 12 oz. bottle. Pours an exuberant white head, with attractive lacing, over a golden yellow (SRM 5) slightly hazy body....nose is light malts with a biscuit and light caramel tone....taste is light cereal, then a dominating off line rubbery chemical finish.....mouth feel is medium, carbonation low after the initial oomph. This is a light Pale Ale and although I have tasted this cabbage off flavor many times in home brews. In spite of this I think the bottle may have been bad. BJCP 6/3/9/4/5 Re-tasting 8/20/11. This is a light Pale Ale, which is not well balanced. This particular bottle was particle laden and had a lingering bitter finish was not pleasant. BJCP 6/2/10/4/5
