12oz bottle picked up at Supermarket Liquors on CO
Pours hazy dark brown with a small beige head and some lacing. Aroma is woody, grapes, vanilla and bourbon. Flavors of woody/oak, vanilla, sweet caramel, finishes with grapes and dry
Very nice, it got better as it warmed up. Can’t believe this is 12%, well hidden.

12 oz bottle. Pours ruby amber with a small fizzy off white head that quickly goes to a thin collar that leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet sugary malts and some vinous fruit and dark fruits and leather with some spiced molasses.

The flavor is sweet sugary honey with some vinous alcohol and a little roast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, an interesting beer but extremely sweet and treacly.

9% Bottle 890 yen from Tanakaya. Shared with David. A ruby red crystal clear pour, minimal head. True barrel character in the nose, whiskey, vanilla, oak, woodsy. Boozy but good, cinnamon, plums, honey, oaky, candy with whiskey notes. Very interesting barrel aged beer.

12oz bottle. Vintage 2006. Very sweet aroma. Honey and vanilla. Sweet taste that hasn’t dulled at all. Finishes a bit dry with bits of oak, cinnamon, cocoa, and hazelnut. Not bad at all.

FROM NOTES: July 29, ’12 Try as I have, I just don’t dig sours and this beer was no different. While I understand stylistically how the beer is supposed to taste, I am blinded by my utter distaste for the style. I wanted to like it, I tried to like it, but sours just don’t do it for me.

Murky reddish brown. Short lived head, likely due to its abv. Barley wine looking so far. Oaky toasted coconut aroma.Woody oak. Taste is fairly sweet. This is pure toasted sweet coconut and honey sweet malty all the way. Caramel buttery honey and coconut, probably some fruits in there but this is hard to not love. Not much alcohol presence. As is is mainly pure toasty coconut sweetness, very good. Hints of cherry.

This is lovely. A braggot in many senses. Toffee, honey, caramel, bourbon, vinious notes. Very sweet, but very moreish. Missing a touch of complexity, but that might come with some age. Top shelf.

Aroma is bourbon, vinous notes, malts and medium sweetness. The flavor is very sweet honey, mild vinous notes, malts and a bourbon/alcoholic finish.

Bottle shared by goryshkewych. Cheers, George! Pours a clear copper color with a small off-white head. Nose is honey, sweet malt, some sweet fruit, raisins, grapes, booze, and some vinous character. Flavor was uber sweet with lots of raisins, almost cranberry character, some fruit, and booze. Interesting blend, but it kind of reminded me of drinking soda from the fountain after I mixed every kind possible.
