3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 thegreenrooster (2806) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 23, 2013
Pour is a cloudy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice rich caramel malt with earthy tones. Flavor is some sweet malt with a bit of toffee pudding. Some earthy malt is left after the swallow. This is more of a brown ale but who’s counting? Still pretty decent for a style I’m not all that excited about.

Sampled at the Artisans Craft Beer Festival 2012. It poured an amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was of malt, some sweetness and a little caramel. The taste was the same as the aroma with a hint more maltiness with a little chocolate and some sweetness.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear orange/red pour with big fizzy white head, when settled, aroma brought notes of lots of caramel, some slight earth, slight spice and floral notes, hints of a husky grain as well. Taste is lots of sweet caramel dominating, some slight floral and husky notes, finishing fairly sweet. Eh.

bottle pours a clear, dark hued red with off white head. Aroma is caramel, sweet hay, some butter. Medium bodied, very smooth, creamy feeling. Flavor is big and malty, caramel, buttered toast, with a touch of hops on the finish. I found it quite nice.

On tap at 2011 Garden Grapes and Hops at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Hazy dark amber with a big head. Aroma of toffee, some pecans, and a hint of cocoa. Taste is really smooth and assertive. Nice nutty toffee, light hop bitterness, very creamy and sweet with light toasty chocolate notes.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bhensonb (8954) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 9, 2010
Tap at the brewpub. Pours lightly hazy dark amber with a large foamy off-white head. Aroma is lightly treacle and slightly veg. Foamy carbonation. It’s malty, and there’s enough veg/noble hop to break the sweetness. Maybe some citrus breaks out. Full bodied for an "amber". Surprisingly good.
