750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of whiskey, vanilla, raisins, burnt carmel and light oak. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of whiskey, raisins, carmel, light vanilla and light oak with a crisp lingering whiskey finish.

Bottle @ Dan’s House, Denver. Pours pitch black with a creamy light tan head, faqding and leaving nice lacings. Aroma of roasted malt, bourbon, raisins, biscuit. Taste is rather light with malts, oak, bourbon, biscuit, raisins and other dark fruit. Thin to medium body, average carbonation, alcohol well hidden. 220212

Bottle @ Dan’s house, courtesy of ARMIN. Gracias mofo! Deep brown/black appearance with a light brown head. Toasty, dark chocolate/caramel, sugary aroma. Caramel, toffee, light whiskey, toasty sweet flavor.

Pour out of bottle is dark brown almost black, no light coming through. Off white slightly tan head. Aroma has notes of raisin, rum soaked green raisin, nice rum cake, finishes with caramel and toffee, some slight hints of roast. Taste is a nice mix of raisin, dark fruit, some whiskey notes ans slight booze, hints of vanilla, touch of caramel, finishing fairly bitter and slightly harsh.

Pours a rich dark brown with a nice coffee colored head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma of sweet raisons and malts. Flavor starts out a bit sour, works its way to sweetness, and then goes back to sour again in the aftertaste. Has a relatively strong flavor of bourbon and malts. Very complex and a bit confusing. Very flavorful beer, but I can’t tell if I enjoy the flavor or not. It is interesting no doubt. The more I drink the more the bourbon comes through. If you like beers with big, interesting flavors, this is definitely worth a try.

Bottle… Pours black with a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The nose offers vanilla, cinnamon and roasted malts. Medium to full-bodied with modest carbonation. The flavor is certainly cookie-like, but mainly acrid, acidic and deeply roasted. Finishes tangy, singed and a hint dry. The Stranahan’s barrel added complexity to this beer without being at all overbearing. In fact, I didn’t really detect any whiskey at all. Bottle courtesy of biggsbowler!

The pour is nealry black with an average, pillowy, tan head which is somewhat lasting and leaves some lace rings. The nose is overwhelming Stranahan with vanilla, spicy notes, almost corn from the bourbon, light cinnamon and raisin, lightly caramelized, and some cookie notes. The flavor is much more raisin, some cinnamon, cookie is more prominent, vanilla, bourbon still, and some toffee. The palate is nearly full, nearly lively, warming, and velvety. The finish is vanilla, bourbon-tinged, cinnamon, and cookie notes. The cinnamon raisin notes were nice and unique but the bourbon notes were overwheling. Decent beer and a unique attempt but more Stranahan than I like in a beer. And this is a whiskey I am fond of...

Inky black pour with a persistent khaki head. Not too big, but persistent. Intense dark aroma of an oak whiskey barrel, and well, oatmeal raisin, as well as some cocoa tones. Flavor is equally big but leans a little too heavy on the whiskey and oak. Behind that booze though is some pretty unique stout. Theres a bit of cocoa, candy sugar, raisin, and some dark vanilla. It all plays well with the whiskey/oak combo, but there’s just too much of the later. Also, it’s just a tad too sweet...are we sure this isn’t an imperial stout?
