Tap @ Freshcraft, Denver. Pours black, no head, just a small ring of foam. Aroma of roasted malt, some citruslike hops, grapefruit. Taste is Pine, grapefruit, oatmeal, roasted malt and cocoa. Medium body, light bitter finish. Somehow a cross between a stout and a BIPA wichs turns out okies. 030311

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2011 Tap @ FreshCraft. Pretty dark black appearance with a tan head. Sweet dark roasty malts with a mild bitter hoppy nose with some mild Belgian yeast. Dark and quite roasty malty flavor with some hops on the back end. More of a hoppy stout (though too light of body) than an IPA.

Growler poured a clear dark brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of charcoal, carmel, roastiness, light citrus, light earthiness and a hint of banana. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of roastiness, cocoa, earthiness, light charcoal, light citrus and a hint of banana with a crisp dry roasty bitter finish.

Draft - dark brown - moderate, sudsy tan lace - resinous hop aroma, with some mild chocolate and roast from the malt - flavor is somewhat dry and moderately acidic up front - mildly astringent, wet hop character - becomes sweeter through the middle and finish, as the malt becomes more dominant - a kind of odd malted milk flavor in the finish - eh, it’s okay.

3fourths (6403) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 4, 2010
UPDATED: DEC 5, 2010 draft. dark brown with a medium brown head with average retention. rich, somewhat chewy and resinous, especially in the finish. pungent hops are oily and coat the mouth with soy/licorice black patent malt. hops tend to me wet, soggy and limpy. nose turns to butter and iron/metal.
