Draught at Craft Brewery, Athens. Rough notes from June 08. Pours a deep brown with dark head. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee notes. Sweet malt flavour with some toffee and chocolate. Good carbonation and good finish for a lager.

Black appearance with light brown head. Notes of burned chocolate with a rich full palette. An OK beer.

Bottle. Dark cola brown with a beige head. Chocolate and grass aroma. Taste has caramel, toast, chocolate. Nice roasted malt note at the end. Fine, but rather plain.

FatPhil (7498) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 24, 2009
330ml bottle (Stockman, Tallinn)
Almost black, brief fizzy tan head. Slightly sharp and almost sour aroma, but not off. Sharp carbonation, quite harsh. Roasted body. Taste has some of the sharpness from the aroma, and quite a kick of really burnt malts. Not so far as to be ashy though, quite a good schwartz in fact. Finish is almost entirely deeply roasted malts.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of metal, malt, caramel, and straw, leading to a dry bready finish. Thanks Storm for sharing.

[Thanks to fugitive]. Bottled. Dark brown colour with a light beige head with an average duration. Aroma is toasty with light hints of chocolate. Flavor is cocoa, with a toasty maltiness, and slightly sweet. Dry final.

dreadnord (1000) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 1, 2012
Pours dark, thin looking with a small head that recedes almost immediately. Looks like a glass of coca cola with no ice. Nose is roasted marshmallows, small hint of smoke and a little bit of fruit. Flavor is sweet mostly. Toward the end it bitters a bit only to take on a metallic flavor. Also a bit watered down. Light bodied, mouthfeel is oily and slippery with a medium to long aftertaste. Drinkable, but I wouldn’t order on purpose .

Dark brown color with a small head. Coffee, dark chocolate and roasted taste and aroma. Some hops on the finish. Not a fan of black beers. But it wasn’t bad.

courtesy of Oliver Bieri - opaque dark black coloured with a firm and long lasting beige foam; fairly toasted nose with notes of ashes and bacon; moderate malt body, very creamy palate, tart and slightly acidic; moderately dry, creamy and toasted malty finish with weird notes of vegetables - something looks wrong to me here
