Wow, this one really caught me off guard. After having had a few of the local offerings in Greece, I tried this on tap at Zythos in Athens, and I wasn’t expected too much. It starts out fairly innocent with a clear golden amber pour with a bubbly head that had decent retention and little lacing. The smell really kicked it up a notch. Big smoked malt aromas with smoked bacon and wood with some light hops in the nose as well. Then the taste just keeps it coming with huge smoked hickory and bacon tastes balanced very well with the hops and malts. The mouthfeel is light bodied wtih lots of carbonation. This is one of the best smoked beers I have tasted to date and kudos to Craft for this hidden gem.

Looks like a typical golden lager but has a smokey nose. Quite mild and malty in taste. More smoked sausages than tar. Have to say I’m a suprised how well smoke and golden lager went together though.

Crystal clear amber, huge head, great lace. Nose of smoke and caramel and floral hops, taste the same, with a good smokey finish. Thin to average palate.

Draft at the brewpub in Athens. Pours a clear, brazen-gold color. A small, foamy white head leaves minimal sudsy lacing behind. The aroma shows smoked caramel malts, toasted bread, and earthy hop bitterness. Flavors follow suit exactly, with toasty, smoky caramel malt notes being balanced quite nicely by lightly spicy, earthy hops. Medium to light bodied, smooth, and very drinkable. Very straightforward, but solid in execution. Easily the most impressive of the 6 Craft beers I tried. Nice brew.

Athens, 07. Tried these beers as a tasters sample at the brew pub. All beers much better than the beer available in 99% of the bars in Athens, but nothing fantastic. This one was pretty nice, had some decent smokiness to it and great malt character.

[321-20070525] Tap @ Craft (Athens). Smells like smokey bacon bits and beef. Clear, golden orange body with a quick creamy white head. More smokey bacon meat in the flavour. Medium body. Overly smokey but otherwise an interesting blend.

Draught, tasted at the brewpub, a clear dark amber with a foamy white head. A soft smoked malt aroma. A stronger smoky flavour, light and smooth, it works well. No Schlenkerla though, but I do like this style.

This is the latest Craft beer. I don’t have a big experience with smoked beers but i liked this one very much. It looks like a darker lager (something between a pilsner and a IPA).Medium white head. Aromas of smoked bacon, wood and ash. Tastes of smoked bacon a lot , ceddar and roasted malt. Very refreshing and enjoyable.
