Bottle at chris o’s teabag for 2009 tasting. Alround rating: Just a great clean smoked lager, its a little subtle in the smoke as its mainly in the aroma, but i ended up drinking a whole bottle of the stuff at a tasting of 70ish beers.

This is the latest Craft beer. I don’t have a big experience with smoked beers but i liked this one very much. It looks like a darker lager (something between a pilsner and a IPA).Medium white head. Aromas of smoked bacon, wood and ash. Tastes of smoked bacon a lot , ceddar and roasted malt. Very refreshing and enjoyable.

Bottle sampled at Papsø’s on 8/30/09: Transparent bright copper bronze with a spotty-lacing white head. Nice aroma of smoky caramel malt and light fruity esters. Starts with good malty sweetness with some grainy caramel and smoky notes before a lightly fruity and sweet finish. Pretty well-balanced and true to the style.

[bottle at RBESG 2009, Grand Tasting] Bacony smoke aroma with sweet caramel malt. Dark gold under a thin, white, lasting cover. Nice smoke flavour that is smooth with base malt sweetness. Quaffable and with nut accents. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, smoky finish.

Wow, this one really caught me off guard. After having had a few of the local offerings in Greece, I tried this on tap at Zythos in Athens, and I wasn’t expected too much. It starts out fairly innocent with a clear golden amber pour with a bubbly head that had decent retention and little lacing. The smell really kicked it up a notch. Big smoked malt aromas with smoked bacon and wood with some light hops in the nose as well. Then the taste just keeps it coming with huge smoked hickory and bacon tastes balanced very well with the hops and malts. The mouthfeel is light bodied wtih lots of carbonation. This is one of the best smoked beers I have tasted to date and kudos to Craft for this hidden gem.

Bottle 330ml. Great beer. Aromas of smoke, and caramel. Taste is sweet, with good length. Silky palate, and thin-to-medium body. Amber, with a frothy white head.

Bottle@Hotel. Lots of smoke in the aroma, unexpected I must say, nice. Dark yellow/golden, off-white head, good lace. Light sweet, lots of smoke, bitter, light fruity. Medium body, dry-ish. Flavourful, balanced, well brewed.

Many bottles. Bright sunny amber and clear with lovely lasting head. Pleasantly smoked aroma is assertive with what is likely to be Weyerman smoked malts and other allusions to Bamberg. Has a nice caramelized smokey malt aroma. Sessionable (very) and worthy of comparison to Spezial lager, which it resembles in terms of a lighter-bodied, easy-going, friendly smoked beer with good balance. Not nearly as oily or big bodied as its big Bamberg bretheren but the hop character at the end makes for a lip-smacking treat. Had the opportunity of side-by-siding it with Rittmayer rauchbier and while the latter has more malt depth, the Craft has a characterful floral hop note that brightens the finish. The hop is subtle enough not to clash with the smoke. Good brewing. I keep buying it, it’s become my go-to afternoon stabilizer in Athens and the first reason why I’m impressed with what Greeks are doing with beer.

Bottle that my dad picked up in Zante and brought back for me, consumed 29-09-09 Pours amber with off-white head, smoky aroma with a touch of toffee and malt. Taste is smoky and malty, touch of metallicyness at the corners of the mouth also there is even a slight smoked sausageness about this, I really liked this, lovely stuff. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6
