Blue Honey Melomel is a semi-sweet melomel mead that is crafted with 100% raw Ohio wildflower honey, farm raised Great Lakes blueberries, water, and yeast. This blueberry melomel is then aged on French oak staves for 3 months to provide added depth and complexity. Make sure to store away an extra bottle for later because this mead ages wonderfully.

Clean light blueberry taste with hints of oak. Aroma is more of a zin, but is deceiving. Blueberry character shines through as it warms a bit. This will be what I will shoot for in my michigan blueberry mead this winter. I’ll be back!

Pours a rose color, decent legs with a swirl. Aroma is mainly honey and oakt vanilla, the blueberry is there but its overpowered. Taste is the same, mainly honey and plenty of oak vanilla tones, light natural blueberry, a bit of an alcoholic finish. I’d buy it again.

750 ml bottle shared by DrSilverworm - thanks again, Chris! Pours a clear pale rose color with no head but some legs. Notes of blueberry, honey, red grapes. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, vinous mouthfeel. Sweeter than the Tupelo Dry and still just as easy to drink. Intrigued me a bit more than the other. I could sip on a glass of this for quite a while.

750ml bottle, shared with friends. Clear pinkish red color. Leaves nice legs, it looks like. Tasty mix of honey, pear, and a touch of blueberry. Moderate to bigger sweet taste, a bit more slick... Not as dry as the Tupelo dry that I just tasted. Nice mild warmth. Medium to bigger body. More slick. Interesting mead to sip on and share. I wouldn’t want more than the 4oz that I had. A touch cloying sweet, not nearly as sippable as the tupelo dry.

750ml bottle. A fairly sweet mead, Blueberry flavor is lacking to me, covered by the honey and oak flavors.

Sample at the Meadery on 4/5/14. Pours clear blush with no head and slight legs. Aroma of honey and tart berry. Sweet honey flavor with brewing yeast accents along with some blueberry before a semi-dry wine finish.

Bottle to taster at Big Beers & Barleywines 2013. Looks good; a still and fully transparent light bluish red color (likely from the blueberries). Smells of honey and light blueberries. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Not bad.

Sample at the Hoppin’ Frog Tasting Room. Pours a clear rosé wine color with a minimal head and slight legs. Aroma of blueberries and honey. Full-bodied and somewhat syrupy with flavors of mildly tart blueberry, honey and spice. The finish is fruity with a blueberry and oak aftertaste. Decent Mead overall.
