Tap. This batch is reportedly 13% ABV. Pours with a hazed orange body with no head. Aromas of spearmint, oak, cola, gum and dates. Flavors of peppermint, medicine, spearmint, chocolate, oak and a ton of alcohol. Very powerful on the mint. Interesting, but not in a enjoyable way. Dry, tannic, boozy and very estery.

Tasted on tap at the 2005 Pizza Port Strong Ale festival. Medium gold color. Small head. Aroma is root bearish, sweet and sweet. A medium bodied Strong Ale. This is one frelling weird beer. People are either going to love it or hate it. There will NO middle ground. It is an avalanche of tastes. Root beer is
the main flavor, with lots of Belgian esters and yeasts. Sweet and surprising drinkable. It just impossible to describe.. Go out and find some and see for yourself. No alcohol presences at 11%. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
9th Annual San Diego Strong Ale Fest: This is a strange one but it quickly grows on you. Yet I donít know why. Very hazy light amber with a big off-white head. Aroma was pretty herbal. Juniper maybe? Pickles and mint? The mint grows pretty strong as the beer warms. Flavor starts with malt that quickly turns to wrigleyís spearmint gum or maybe tic-tacs. Medium to full bodied. Unique thatís for sure.

I had this beer on draft at the Pizza Port Strong ALe fest in Carlsbad, CA on 03 Dec 2005. This has a sticky sweet flavor and is very easy to drink. In speaking w/ the brewer, he felt that it need a couple of months more time in order to fully appreciate the flavor.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours golden with a disappearing white head. The aroma is very unique with mint and hints of berries and bread. The mint reminds me of Andes candies. The flavor is rough with sweet caramel, alcohol, overipe fruit and milder hints of mint. The finish is rough and very alcoholic. Hard to drink.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Initial smell is strawberry to me then the mint kicks in. Pours orange/red. First taste is mint and then spiciness. The taste really lingers before turning medicinal. Some beers get better the more you drink. This is the opposite. Getís harder to drink. Maybe mint and beer donít mix.
