Draft at O’brien’s. Pretty good stuff. Medium Amber red color with not a lot of head. Aromas were sweet with a bit of cherry in there. The rest was very malty. Malty flavors and a bit of wood from the oak aging. I like it.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 alexanderj (2851) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - JUN 13, 2008
On tap at SD Brewing Company; poured a really nice reddish color. Aroma was hoppier than expected with a goo amount of caramel malt balance. Flavor wasn’t quite as hoppy, which was a bit surprising based on the aroma. Flavor was good and well balanced. Caramel and toasted malt with some vanillal and spices. A really good version for the style.

Murky amber. Big, bright caramel nose with white pepper. Caramel malts to the fore with earthy accents and hints of vanilla. Somewhat minerally finish.

Sample at San Diego Brewing Company. Pours a clear dark amber color with a thin beige head that recedes steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of yeast, malt and light peppery hops. Medium-bodied and clean with flavors of yeast, fruit and spices. Sweet caramel malt undertones as well. The finish is spiced with a fruity aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

served on tap. poured amber in color with a thin tan head that dissipated rather quickly. the aroma was quite sweet, and the taste seemed to match. quite creamy and delicious. not the easiest beer to finish, but definitely a good take on a saison.

On tap @ Stone - Pours a hazy orangish- amber color with a small off white head that faded pretty quick. No lacing. Aroma is spice, light yeast, and esters. Flavor is the same. Medium body. This is one of the more spicey beers I’ve tried. A good one.
