Draft. Purple-ish beer with a pink head. Wine-like aroma. Wine and light malt flavor with big red fruit. Medium bodied. Wine notes linger with grape and fruit.

A: The pour is an intriguing one: dark purple in color with plenty of red mixed in. The head is fluffy and pink, but short lived.
S: The nose is definitely "grapey". There isn’t much to it, to be honest. Other than some vinous qualities, there’s some mixed berries, and a bit of sweetness.
T: The flavor is similarly wine-like. The skins provide some mild tannins on the palate, but again, there’s just a bit of mixed berry flavor (mostly raspberries), and some grape juice.
M: The body is a bit on the light side and has a bit of dryness to it. Despite being carbonated, the beer seems a little flat on the tongue, but for some reason, it works.
D: I was hoping this beer would have a little tartness to it, but was disappointed on that front. A decent enough beer, but I wouldn’t look to try this again.

Pours a very wine like red. Not surprisingly. Aroma is fairly muted. Alot of wine notes with some sour sneaking in here and there. By the end, I was getting some pronounced silky, buttery flavors.

On tap at Lucky Baldwin’s. Hazy deep red with a one finger pink head, fair retention. Vinous nose of red wine grapeyness with some nondescript berry. Just a little sweet malt backing. Flavor tastes like a carbonated Cabernet right off, even with a light boozy burn. Light toasty malts still let me know it’s beer. Dry finish, bitterness at a 2, and gets a little wheaty. Medium body with light to moderate prickly carbonation. Definitely interesting, though would have enjoyed a little more complexity.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Enniskillen (2008) - Salinas, California, USA - AUG 4, 2009
Red with a tight off white head. Aroma is red wine, alcohol, freeze dried strawberries. Taste is winey, light maltiness, with alcohol, and tannins. Interesting, but not something I’d get again.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SamGamgee (2451) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - JUL 9, 2009
Draught at The Red. Appropriately served in a red wine glass. Distinctly strawberry aroma with some grape and malt. The flavor is a little confusing though, lacking the acidity to make the cabernet pop, and not really offering up much clear malt. Fruity and grapey though. Some more carbonation would have helped the palate out. Definitely more interesting than actually good, but this was pretty cool to try.
