7% Bottle Conditioned. Exploded out of the bottle, big off-white head. Aromas are bitter dry coffee with alcohol and some smoky malts. Flavours are sweet coffee and chocolate with lots of prickly pepper on the tongue. Alcohol is quite prominent with bitter dark chocolate on the finish. Decent, but lacks finese. A heavy hitting stout.

Black with a nice head and the aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, berries and ripe fruit. The mouthfeel is oily. The flavour has a nice bite from the beginning, but the bitterness is a bit edgy and unrefined. It has notes of roasted malt, sour berries and it should have more body and balance. 1537

Bottle.Black with a medium brown head,aroma is of light smoke,alcohol and roasted coffee,taste is of black treacle,chocolate and malt,some bitterness and alcohol at the end.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Out Of The Vaults Leicester. A black coloured stout with a nice coffee coloured thin head. The aroma is pretty much non-existant, but the taste is (gratefully) better. There is some light roast, some moderate sweetness and some good alcohol notes. This could be so much better and was only just good.
