The claim was to be a pilsener but the reality was of a golden lager that didn’t leave much of an impression. Some aroma of passionfruit and gooseberry, but not in any plentiful amounts. Light body, too much gas and little in the way of memorable flavour. The pro being that this would be good lawnmower beer. The con being that there are legion flavour-lacking lawnmower beers already. What the brewer has failed to grasp is that in an attempt to break into the burgeoning craft market, you have to have commensurate flavour. The Crafty Beggars range just simply doesn’t measure up. Where are the hops? What about the use of good flavourful malts? Try bumping up the alcohol content so that the flavour has something to bond to and for God’s sake tell whoever wrote the bumf on the label that they’re fired.

Congratulations to these so called ’Rogue Brewers’ for creating a boring beer that no one will ever give a crap about! What an absolute load of the worst kind of marketing BS. A ’craft beer you can actually drink’? No, an unimaginative, light lager with as little flavour as possible trying to pretend it is something it’s not.

Pale straw colour with thin head that disappeared quickly. Crisp bite mouthfeel. Sharp hop flavour which is short. Just the big boys trying to be craft brewer.

330mL bottle, poors a golden beer with a small head. The back of the bottle talks about creating a craft beer that will appeal to a more mainstream consumer "one that you can actually drink". What they have ended up creating is a boring lager, which lacks in flavour. For a pilsner its very short finishing without the characteristic hop bitterness. The initial malt flavours are there to start with, but less then even a mainstream European lager. A disappointing beer.
