shit beer, disapointing false advertising, especially when there are so many good pale ales out there.

330ml bottle from The Beer Cellar 150513. Clear orange colour with some floral hop aromas and an even head. Smooth clean taste but not really that interesting.

I made a mistake choosing this beer to drink on a Friday night.... I am having a hard time chasing the taste... it is like drinking a bottle of water with a hint of beer. The aroma very faint which truly represent the taste of the beer itself. This beer seems to be too pale and not interesting!!!!

Was "forced" to try this on the interislander ferry between Wellington and Picton.. Typical captured audience being offered rubbish beer. I thought this beer would be the pick of a poor bunch. The label is full of marketing crap about how fanstasic the contents are. The beer had no flavour, aroma or mouth feel. It was a total dissapointment and no better than the other bland beers produced by Lion breweries. Save up your money for a decent beer....

What a disappointment. It’s a very uninteresting beer, with little flavour and not even a hint of bitterness to make it at least refreshing.
A waste of a drink, I’m afraid.
The only redeeming quality is the low alcohol content, making it OK to drink if you don’t want to get sloshed.

OMG Crafty Beggars! You guys are truly crafty, you almost had me believing that you actually made a beer with flavour! But no, because you’re not ’too crafty’, that would involve actually using hops. I almost caught a glimpse of some hop aroma there, but as quickly as it came, it was gone. Pale and Interesting?? No, more like Pale and Un-interesting.

Light orange in colour with thick white head. Nutty aroma. Hoppy flavour, short sharp metalic finish. Big boy trying to be craft brewer, yeah right :) !!!!

An interesting take on a craft beer. Obviously their marketing is aimed at craft beer drinkers, however the beer itself is more mainstream and very drinkable. As a craft beer drinker I was initially disappointed but the beer grew on me the more I drank.

Always the cynic, I muttered a string of mild oaths at the twee marketing-speak on the reverse of the label, however, I was confident of a positive result because of the goodish showing of the Wheat Ale.
In the end I was a little nonplussed. It looked clear and golden with plenty of head. Aromas at first were a little funky, but that subsided into some good citrussy hop - bitter orange and lemon juice with a nod toward herbal grassiness. Not an enormous noseful, but good enough to make me think that at last, a mainstream brewer using hops in recognisable quantities. It was a little thin in body with plenty of gassy carbonation (which didn’t sit well in the stomach). Useful citrus hoppy flavours with a tangy finish which didn’t endure terribly well. The verdict was that this beer was alright, but no more. It lost points for the marketing wank and gained them as being a good hot weather ale that you shouldn’t expect too much from.
’Pale because we brewed it in a secret cave’ indeed. Wankers.
