UPDATED: DEC 1, 2011 Draft at Casual Pint. Hazy copper with a small head. Nose is light sour fruit and caramel, with hints of spiciness. Flavor is sour cherry and apple with a touch of ginger and a finish of spruce. Medium body is tingly and acidic. Think this one was infected.

A hazed amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, superb ginger, prange pulp, various spices, very nice. In mouth, a smooth spiced malt with range pulp, coriander, light ginger, very nice. On tap at Knoxville Brewer’s Jam, Oct. 22 2011.

Draft at the brewery. Orange-red. The spruce is strong in the initial aroma, but once on the palate, the ginger takes over -- not really in an obtuse way, it’s well finessed like every Craggie beer we tried. This isn’t for everyone (if you don’t like ginger), but it’s very well made. (#4304, 10/5/2011)

Sample at Nashville beer fest. Spice dominated with clove and anise. A little unusual for an APA which is what they told me it was at the tent. Think it is a little more accurately categorized here as a spiced beer. Nice body with some chewy grain. Light finish, a little fruity.

rlaw (812) - Alabama, USA - AUG 7, 2011
Draft sampled at Music City Brewers’ Fest. Poured a hazy amber. Aroma and flavor were full of spruce and ginger. Spices worked well with the hops. Wouldn’t become my go-to beer, even if it was available where I lived. But it was creative, historical, and tasty -- and that’s pretty good in my book.
