Tasted this at the Three Judges, Glasgow in February 2003. Cask, handpump dispense. Dull jet black in colour with ruby tints around the edges and a thin buff head. Dusty black malt in the short aroma. Thin but creamy mouthfeel and good lacing throughout. Dark malts give a burnt toast note at the start which then gives way to milky coffee, molasses and dry drinking chocolate powder in a smooth mouthfeel. Dry hoppy bitter prickle noted in the short aftertaste. Finish is dry with a slight liquorice note present. A decent session stout.

Very dark with little to no head. Roasted malts dominate the nose with a yummy hint of coffee bean. Thin and light, this could be the first ’session stout’! Very smooth and enjoyable. At the tasting, I kept saying, ’I haven’t tried that stout yet...’ Luckily someone handed me a full pint to shut me up for a while.
