3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle to half-pint. Looks solid; a slightly hazy copperish amber with fizzy very light caramel head that quickly dissipates into thin lacing. Smells malty with notes of caramel, mild bitterness from the hops, and a bit of toast. Tastes like it smells with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Not bad, but forgettable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy ruby red/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, apple, light roast, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, apple, light roast, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, plum, apple, herbal, grass, light roast, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice Irish red ale style. All around good robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

A red that doesn’t have any character but doesn’t really try to do too much so the simplicity is not a downfall decent beer

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear brown with dark red hues, giant beige head that lingers for a while. Nose is whole wheat bread, some dark dried fruit, yeast. Medium to light body, initial caramel sweetness covers the tongue then onto a slightly dry finish with more dried fruit on the finish. Decent beer, but lacks complexity.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the HopCat. Rated from notes. Pours a rich reddish pour with a medium light tan head. Aroma of cereal malts, red cake, some brown sugar and molasses, with some earthy hop notes. Flavor is fairly sweet with moderate bitter hop tendencies. Medium to fullbodied with a creamy texture, somewhat coating mouthfeel. It finishes somewhat bitter with a lingering sweetness. Nice, unassuming, but ultimately not special. Just solid.

2.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Dark red brew with small head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and some sort of burnt aroma - like wet burnt toast. Taste follows the aroma with a sweet caramel flavor but a sour burnt bread taste in the back of the throat. Earthy in a bad way. Ye gods... I used to have family in Big Rapids and drove by the brew pub a few times but never stopped to sample the goods. I hate to dis a Michigan brewery but the sample I have here leaves a lot to be desired.

Bottle. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly diminished and produced fair lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft sweet beer.
