Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours black with a small creamy tanned head. Aroma of dark chocolate , coffee, tar and weak roast. Taste is moderate sweet, chocolate, weak bodied, with a pleasant weak oily mouthfeel. Finishes with a weak bitter coffee and vanilla, nice. .

Bottle from Kris Wines, London. Pours a deep brown, near black body with a small light beige head. Nose is nuts, chocolate, caramel, cereals and hints of coffee and licorice. Taste is nuts, caramel, brown sugar, licorice and hints of biscuits, cereals, chocolate and coffee. Full body, creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very pleasant, thick and well-rounded stout; a nice first try at the Crate Brewery for me.

Cask: Literally black with a ruby sheen, firm and creamy tanned head; sweet fruity and toasty nose, dried black berries detectable; moderate sweet-bitter flavour with a pretty subdued acidity; slightly lingering sweet-bitter fruity and toasty finish. Good, but still a bit sweet...

Aroma: Medium Coffee, dark chocolate, Light dark fruit. No hops Appearance: Body: Dark red, clear. Head: thin, light brown. very low retention. Flavour: High roasty, harsh, medium coffee. Dry finish. No hops. Medium-high bitterness. Mouthfeel: Medium body. Light carbonation. Overall: Lowering the harshness would make this beer more drinkable. 330 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 13A. Dry Stout
