COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We bring in the hops for this brew from New Zealand, where locals use the term “Boohai” to describe being thoroughly lost in a remote or non-existant place far from civilization. To us, that sounded like a pretty good place to be. These unique hops present a noticeable aroma of blackberries, Sauvignon Blanc grapes and pine which come together nicely with a complex blend of Belgian malts to make a deep, yet sublimely pleasant beer.

Canned @ home picked up at Wilbur’s Foco. Pours a clear, dark reddish orange appearance with a cream colored head. Fairly grapefruity, citrusy, a touch nutty, caramel/toasty malty aroma that pretty nice. A touch fruity, fairly dull and bitter hoppy, caramel, somewhat toasty malty flavor with a bland bitterness on the finish. The aromatic hops seemed quite nice but the hops were just dull and bitter in the flavor.

Can. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, cookie), moderately hoppy (resin), with a note of black tea. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. A pretty plain hoppy beer. One-dimensional resinous hop aroma, but certainly some malt for support and no obvious off notes. A bit citric-sour in the mouth, watery, etc. Instantly forgettable but better than some of the other cans from this brewery.

Pour out of 12 oz can, dark red pour with white, slightly off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, nice resin, grass, slight berry notes, hints of spice. Taste is a mix of caramel, toffee, slight earth and spice, hints of a grass but pretty muddled, finishing bitter, dry.

Clear deep amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma of juicy blackberry, caramel, and pine mixing with a sticky smelling crystal malt tone. Flavor is roughly the same. Smooth and sweet with caramel and crystal malt combining with some blackberry, floral pine hops, a touch of melon, and an earthy caramel finish.

12 oz can pours dark ruby, almost brown with a thin, white head. Pretty oxidized. Carmel sweetness, subdued hops, oxidation in both flavor and aroma. Drinkable.

12 oz can. Pours clear red amber with a small off white head that quickly goes to a thin collar.

The aroma is biscuity malts and tropical fruit hops with some mint.

The flavor is sweet biscuity caramel malts with some grassy fruity hops that have decent bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, it’s OK. Too much biscuity malts.

Can. Pours a cleat red with two fingers of rocky white head. Settles quickly with a little thin lacing. Aroma is hoppy on the nose, with caramel, nutty, malty undertones. Flavor is mildly hoppy and citrus up front, fading quickly into nutty, caramel, and peated malt. Slight herba/vegetal tones with a mildly bitter finish. Really nice balance of hop and malt. Moderate to soft carbonation and light body, slightly watery texture. The hoppiness and strong malt profile are uncharacteristic of an amber ale, but it still tastes good. A light, drinkable, pretty tasty beer.

Pours copper with virtually no head. Nose is hoppy, and malty with aroma of caramel and nuts. Body is almost watery, with taste of walnuts, and watered down malts. Easy to drink, yes. Work drinking, not really..
