This mutt of a beer is truly unique, just like its nameís origin. Cara de Luna comes from a childhood nickname that founder Marisaís dad came up with to describe her incredibly round and full face. The phrase is Spanish for "Face of the Moon." We take German hops, Belgian Malt, and American yeast to make this Black German Pale Ale. A light mouthfeel lends itself to the soft maltiness and distinct smooth hop character. Leaving convention behind, this beer paves its own path....just like Marisa and her big olí face.

This is a nice representation of an old style. Dark cola color. Some lacing. Just a little smoke and a clean fonish

Pours a black with reddish hues, small tannish head of foam. The smell has a little bit of roasted malt, a hint of chocolate. .not much really going on here. Same goes for the taste. Light flavours all around but it is still a decent beer. Light bodied with medium carbonation. Not a bad Black Ale. On draught at the Wonder Bar.

Tap at JL Beers. Dark brown pour with a dense creamy head. Aroma is black olives, light roasted malt. Medium to lighter palate. Iím getting more olive on taste with a hint of chocolate. Odd beer.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle from Bottle Revolution. It pours a deep black color with a very slight head. Molasses and dark malt nose. Roasty on the tongue with a bit of earthy hops and a little molasses sweetness. Full bodied and slightly oily on the tongue. I was expecting something akin to a black IPA, but itís definitely closer to a porter.

On tap, poured into a footed pilsener glass. Light aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, and light fruit esters greet the nose. It pours a dark, opaque cola black with a tan, foamy head that reduces to a medium sudsy ring with light surface specks. Thereís a light sheet layer of lace. The taste is medium sweet and light bitter, nothing too strong. The oily beer has a medium malty body with a light, fizzy carbonation. Itís earthy, and chocolatey on the mouth with a mild fruit and coffee note. A light grass finishes it off and grass and coffee grounds stick around for a short time in the light aftertaste.

On tap at the brewery. Pour is clear, deep brown with a frothy tan head and great lacing. Coffee, grassy, roasted malty, somewhat chocolatey, and bready aroma. Taste is cocoa nibs - not sweet - espresso, toasty, light caramel and brown sugar with a light bitter finish. Full mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Good porter.

Bottled. Pours dark. Big beige head. Kind of a weird malty grainy aroma. Weird citrus and malts.

Purchased from Cigarette City. $4.99 or the 650 mL bottle. Not the best thing in the world, but, hell, support local. Why the hell not? Brian poured this down the drain; I choked this down. This was only amusing for a few minutes. To Chimay goblet, it pours a mahogany-tinted blackish brown with a beige head half a finger in length. Aromas of black olives, white truffles, vegetation, white chocolate, LME, and stale blackberries. Tastes the same with the addition of grill char, russet potatoes, banana peppers. Kind of a "WTF" beer, but interesting nontheless.

Bomber shared by Radarsock, thanks! Pours black with a big beige head. Um, thereís black olives in the aroma. Not promising. Maybe some smoke as well. Thereís citrus, coffee bitter, and more olive in the taste. Nope. Canít do it. Drain.
