COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
n the 1960s, before Vail Village was paved and closed to vehicles, "hookiebobbing" referred to those committed fools who, while on skis, grabbed onto the bumper of passing cars to tow them up to the lifts. Our IPA is a Colorado approach to the American take of an English classic. Three aggressive yet floral American hops and one hop from Down Under team together to make a bright, citrusy and floral India Pale Ale. A deep caramel malt helps to balance the bitterness of the hops and lets the complex hop bill shine.
Hopped with Simcoe, Amarillo, Centennial and Galaxy.

Bottle from Corti Bros., Sacramento. Pours clear golden with a huge off-white head and a toffee aroma. There is a light pale malt flavor with a bitter finish. A standard IPA.

An interesting, doughy IPA. Aroma: pine and caramel and lemongrass. Flavor: Cereals, malt-forward but not overly sweet. Moderate pine hops with just a little bit of lemon. Bitterness is lingering, but not strong. Also, cheerio burps.

bottle. clear light copper body with a fine-bubbled off-white head, some retention, some lacing. lot of fruity aroma hops (maraschino cherry, tutti-frutti and other tropical fruits) with a decent amount of tree resin/sap. cookie dough malt aroma has some sweet almond pastry touches. smells fairly clean and yeast seems subdued in the nose. rich malt body is mostly smooth and creamy and enjoyable, and though the malt flavor is a somewhat basic cookie dough and caramel, it stays in balance with the hops, which are zingy, vibrant and fresh-tasting. I get a lot more of the Centennial (tea leaves) in flavor than I do of the other varieties, though the tropical fruit character of the Galaxy may be what is giving the aroma that lush and rich fruitiness. overall a decent one, well-balanced with a soft body, and that makes it more enjoyable than a lot of what you find these days.

22 oz bottled shared. Copper colored and slightly hazy with an off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malts, floral, piney hops and light citrus. Medium body with a soft creamy feel. Not too bitter for an IPA, caramel malty sweetness balances out the hops. Quite malty overall for the style, it was OK.

Deep amber pour with moderate head and lacing. Taste is of pine and hops with an undertone of malt. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is probably the best part of the experience.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, herbs). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic, lightly astringent. Well, I have to hand it to Crazy Mtn for one thing on this beer, they got the flavor balance right...it’s got enough sweetness at the front to make you salivate, and assertive (but not brutish/abrasive) bitterness in the finish, with mild acidity and astringency (which is better than having absolutely none of each, IMHO, as it helps both in terms of the total flavor spectrum and overall mouthfeel/dryness). Seems pretty clean too, I don’t get any rough/husky malt character or dirty off notes. I could quaff it all day. The only weakness is that the nose is very simple and ordinary for an American IPA (grapefruit is just about the only aromatic to it, but at least that’s better than a dumb resin bomb), so they played it way too safe there, but that’s really my only gripe. Beats the crap out of all of the canned products I’ve tried from CM, that’s for sure. There’s hope yet...

Pours amber color with white head. Aroma of citrus and hops. Hoppy flavor but taste a little watered down. Good beer but I was hoping for more bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz. bottle. Pours clear orange with a nice soapy white head that slowly fades to a film and lacing. Aroma is grainy floral earthy hops and malt. Taste has a mild bitterness with grain/grass and floral earthy hops and malt little lemon citrus as well. Palate is chalky and drying. Not bad, but nothing that stands out!
