On tap @ Brewery. Enjoyed it as part of their flight. Plenty of orange zest and grapefruity-ness. Suprisingly citric/hoppy for a barley wine, but very enjoyable overall. Best beer of theirs.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On draught. Pours a hazy orange amber, with a small white head. Nose is caramel and malt, and the taste follows. On the sweet side for a barley wine, but very tasty. Hides the alcohol well. Nice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a hazy golden red with decent head that clings to the glass. Bready nose, nice hop profile without being overly bitter. A bit more effervescent than I’d like, but all around very nice beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Picked up single 12-oz can at Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, Minnesota. Pours a semi-hazy orange amber colored brew with a thick and rocky off-white head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some excellent lacing. Aroma of piney and citrus hops, some candi sugar, caramel malt, and some bread dough. Taste is full bodied, spicy with flavors of pine and grassy hops with caramel malt and some alcohol presence. Finish is semidry, light spicy hops and a lingering mild bitterness. Allow to warm up and more alcohol presence comes forward. An average American-style, hoppy barley wine.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a slightly hazy golden brown from the can with thin off-white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of nice piney hop notes and caramel sweetness. Taste is more toward the malty end, hint of bitterness. Not too shabby.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz can.
Strongly flavored and very complex. Hints of nutmeg, other spices, apple cider, apricots, peaches, moist brown bread, brown sugar and dark fruits pop up before the fruity, slightly earthy and boozy finish.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured from can into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a deep golden color with a one finger head of fizzy white foam. The head fades super-fast leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is sweet with lots of caramel and candied sugar which is mixed with some bready and slightly doughy smells. Along with these aromas are some lighter hop smells consisting mostly of pine and a little bit of grass.
Taste - The taste begins with a very bready taste that just has a little bit of a caramel and candied sugar sweetness. As the taste advances the sweetness fades all while a modest showing of hop and some fusel come to the tongue. The hop is of an herbal and grassy nature, but contains a little bit of pine and citrus as well. In the end, with all the flavor transitions, one is left with a slightly drier and modestly hopped, but slightly fusel and overly bready taste.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is average to slightly thinner for a beer of 10 % abv and has a carbonation level that is rather low. The low carbonation is great for the bready taste, but thicker body may have been slightly better and created a slightly nicer feel overall.
Overall – If you like drier and modestly hopped barleywine’s then this may be for you. If not, then this is one to avoid.

12oz can 5/14/16 (Binny’s Mix A Six)-40° in Snifter-Pours dark amber with a small head. Aroma of hops, caramel, and sweetness. Taste of the same. This full bodied brew is well balanced and is downright tasty.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can. For such a big bitter beer, goes down easy. Aroma and flavor hops first, but takes a turn different than an iipa (the install impression) with a slightly sweet biscuity malt undertone. Still hop forward with lots of citrus peel and pine, but definitely a Barleywine. Under appreciated in my book.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Can - turbid orange - soapy lace - smells and tastes like a stale double IPA - strong bitterness, flavors of spoiled orange juice, cheese rinds, grapefruit, oxidation - bitter finish, with heavy boozy alcohol - not good.
