COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer began as a celebration of our January anniversary, but it is now being incorporated into a year round offering. We use an assortment of crystal malts and throw a little Belgian Candi into the Brew Kettle to give a hearty maltiness. Dry hopping with American Hops gives this English style a refreshing American twist. Be cautious with this beer as overindulgence can result in the shit hitting the fan.

On tap @ Brewery. Enjoyed it as part of their flight. Plenty of orange zest and grapefruity-ness. Suprisingly citric/hoppy for a barley wine, but very enjoyable overall. Best beer of theirs.

Tap @ Black Bottle Fort Collins. Pours a bit hazy, reddish orange appearance with an off white head. Somewhat zesty, fruity, strawberry, a bit citrusy, spicy hoppy, toasty malty aroma. Tangy, somewhat fruity, a bit watery, earthy, herbal hoppy, slightly spicy flavor. Bleh.

Pour on tap at the CO rare beer tasting 2012, hazy reddish brown pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, rich bready, earthy malts, slight red wine but mainly focusing on the thick barley wine characteristics. Taste is similar, mainly some spice, earth, caramel, toffee, bready malts with a slight red fruit, leading into a hint of oak and white wine but gone fairly quick, finishing fairly sweet, slight booze.

On tap at Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours dark copper with a rich beige head and a toffee aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with some candi sugar and plenty of hop bitterness, but still pretty balanced.

Hazy golden color, white head. Sweet, malty, fruity, apricot scent. Malty, sweet, nice taste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium low bitterness. Very tasty.

RSRIZZO (1810) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - JUL 6, 2012
Tap at Crazy Mountain Brewing. Color is a honey gold with good carbonation and a thick tight head. Aroma of fresh hops. It has a bolder medium body that gives a smooth mouth feel. Flavor jumps strait to the hops with bold citrus and mild pine over a faint malt note. After taste is just bitterness. Overall as a Barley Wine its just too hoppy and bitter.

At 2012 Avery Strong Ale Fest. Clear rusty golden, almost amber, with a thin foamy head. Aroma is pretty strong of rusty toffee, cherry, booziness, maybe a bit of tangerine and pear...complex barleywine aroma. Flavor itself falls a little short. Palate is a little light, and the taste has some boozy pale grains with a slight caramel touch, a little bit of dark fruity esters, but all the impact is in the finish, kinda bland in the rest of the body.

On tap at Avery Strong Ale Fest poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering ivory head. Aroma of biscuit, pine, orange zest, grapefruit and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, pine, grapefruit, orange zest and light earthiness with a smooth dry bitter lingering citrus finish.
