2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap, pours a clear golden color, thin white head. Aroma of sour yeast and rising bread, light to medium body, light malts, walnut and sourdough bread, dries on the finish with some vanilla and coconut. Too light for a Belgian strong for my tastes.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
SBWF 2015. Hazy/cloudy golden beer with a decent offwhite head. Malty yeasty aroma, caramel, floral, some grapes. Malty spicy yeasty flavor, sugary, caramel, some glue and fruits. Not my favorite.

1.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Golden and lightly cloudy. Aroma of hay and spices , a bit peppery. Strange off flavor that I can?t place. Maybe formaldehyde. Really awful. I’m hoping I just got a bad bottle because I can’t imagine anyone enjoying this. I’m dumping the rest.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
One of the lesser Belgian style beers I’ve had. The yeasty spicyness of this overwhelming and unbalanced. Slick mouthfeel and residual clove flavors. Tried at Nomi with Jess, Ryan, Sabrina, and Andy in 2015.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(can) Pours a hazy gold/yellow with just a smattering of white head. Aroma smells like canned fruit cocktail, syrupy yellow cling peach, with an olfactory emphasis placed on those canned green grapes that are part and parcel of canned fruit cocktail. Some sweet roll as well along with a hit of juniper. Alcohol is also present here and smells way hotter than 7.5%. I would’ve guessed this to be up in the 9’s or 10’s based on the way the booze bombards the bulb. The flavor is less complex than the aroma with somewhat of an insipid sweetness pervading the initial flavor before a pop of the juniper rises up in the mid and rides out with some bitter hops on the finish. Can get some suggestions of crisp wheat twang on the finish as well. That juniper to hop to wheat transition isn’t all that smooth and gives off a bit of a tin-like character mid-way through the move. Booze is more appropriate here in the flavor and doesn’t seem out of place which is an improvement. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is a smidge on the high side. I decided to pick up a sixer of this since it was priced to move at a little over $1/can, and even though the flavor and aroma were less than ideal, I still think that this is a decent beer when you factor in the value (thus the higher overall score).

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz can from Winooski Beverage, 9/1/15. It pours a mostly clear golden color, with a slight haze. There’s a small ring of head left on the glass. Slightly fruity, with a decent amount of spice as well. Decent flavor, with some yeast / spice and a bit of herbal notes. It has more of an alcohol flavor than you’d have guessed. Solid. Slightly flawed. I’d still drink this again. It is a little too sweet for my taste overall though.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bomber from Cash Wise in Williston. Appearance: slight film of white head, straw-gold color, clear, no lacing. Aroma: wheat, fruity yeast, light grassy hops, juniper slightly detectable on the exhale. Palate: flat carbonation, medium to light body, mostly thin texture with light stickiness. Taste: sweet fruity Belgian yeast with caramel into grassy and floral light bitterness, light alcohol on the back end, then an ultimate and surprising finish of grassy hops. Overall, too flat, poor palate, not very good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. can. Hazy golden with a disappearing head. Nose is a mix of banana bread, cheesy grape must, clove, evergreen resin and walnut. Taste is sourish citrus, funky molded bread and clove. Finish has a pleasant blend of resin, citrus zest and gummy wheat. Light-medium body has a nice balance and a low medium carbonation. Easy drinking brew gets an overall bonus point for its somewhat experimental reach. Seems like it could be a really great beer if re-examined and fine tuned just a notch.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can from someplace in Middlebury. Gold with slight haze lasting white ring and lace. Sweet candy sugar aroma with spicy hop and a hint of bubblegum. Appropriately heavy on the sweetness with refreshing wheaty tang and pretty good balancing spicy hop dry bitter finish. Really a pretty good Duvel style beer. Medium body, low for abv, Hmm...this one’s an unexpected pleasure. Almost gone.
