3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at the brewpub. Opaque brown with a creamy light beige head. Aromas of light chocolate, cloves, banana, and fruity perfume. There is a definite roast component adding a distinctive coffee element, though it is light in the overall flavor profile. the roast balances a heavier malt sweetness than their regular hef. There is also some light spice and wheat flavor, though banana is not really detectable. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Smooth drinking and on the dry side for the style, which adds to drinkability. Very similar to the regular hef, but with a bit more heft and the roast. The yeast that they use adds a distinct prefumey quality in the aromas of both beers. A good take on the style, and a beer that I would get next time if it is still around.
