3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can from brewery” pours a clear lush deep copper with red highlights. A decent sticky 2 finger cap and moderate carbonation. Pungent aroma of toasty-sweet malts over the earthy notes of noble hops clean malty nose to it. Flavour is intense but on target for the Altbier style – big chewy toasty bready malts in front in remarkable balance with the woody/herbal noble hop bite, clean toasty-nutty finish with increasing bittering to a beautiful well balanced finale and light hop aftertaste. A flavourful, robust, easy drinking German amber ale, hard to fault that. This is probably the best commercial Altbier in Canada as good or better than German commercial Alts. Another solid offering from Creemore who keep me coming back.

I had 2 cans. Both were far too metallic. I’m giving it a little slack assuming it was related to the batch. Will re-rate when I’m confident the supply is from a different brew.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
473ml can from the LCBO. Pours a clear copper with a generous beige head. Nose is muted cereal and malts with caramel and nuts. Lots going on but all quite muted. Sweet with hint of bitterness. Medium body with lively carbonation and rather short finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a deep rust red, with a huge frothy head. Aroma includes graham crackers, and notes of pine, dough, and yeasty. Tasting notes include light malts, toffee, and a piney bitter finish. This is a decent beer, however the palate is a little week. Although enjoyable, it is a weak example of the style.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear coppery red/amber colour with a sporty head. Muted aroma, like there is almost nothing to it. there is some malts, a slight hoppy note and something kind of yeasty but all those things come after the beer has opened up a whiles. The palate proves more impressive with hints of malts and some lively carbonation. Overall, this brew sucks, is watery and I’m never gonna buy this one again.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
473 ml can. Pours light brown with an off white head. Aroma is quite nicely malty with grain and something almost sour - but not in a bad way. Flavour is rich with more malt. Early finish is slightly sweet, late finish is a smooth and satisfying bitterness.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewery, served in a tasting glass. Pours clear caramel-amber with a small, fluffy white head that fades to a few bubbles and leaves a trace of lace. On the nose are subtle herbal hops, along with caramel malts, grain and a touch of earth. The flavour is balanced between moderate malty sweetness and noble hoppiness. Grains, herbs and earth are present throughout. The finish is moderate in length with herbal hops. On the palate, it is light-medium in body with a dryish texture and soft, minimal carbonation. Overall, this is a decent altbier, but it could be more malty with a smoother body. It is quite drinkable but the grain bill could be improved. 2012-08-25
