COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Since the middle ages the folks in rural Germany have enjoyed a fresh locally brewed beer, straight from the brewer’s cellars known as "Kellerbier". Kellerbiers are unfiltered so the beer is naturally cloudy, distinctly flavourful and refreshing. We brew our kellerbier in small batches using our direct fired kettle. Special German whole-leaf hops are added late in the brewing process, producing a beer that is wonderfully aromatic with a hint of citrus and spice on the palate."

This is a better brew than I expected, given my previous experiences with Creemore (no hate, just no love). Looks great out of the bottle. Nose is faint, but pleasant: German malt with a bit of citrus and spice, as advertised. Taste is the same, with a nice, crisp, simple dry finish. Nothing about this beer pops, but it’s drinkable cottage fare.

Poured from can. Some citrus hops aroma. Cloudy amber appearance with white head. Light bitter taste. Light body, oily texture, average carbonation. Overall a very nice and refreshing brew.

(Rating #5597)

473ml can. Looks light. Aroma of light malts and hints of wheat-like lightness, some floral hops, and dough with hints of spices. Flavor the same. Average to lighter texture. A decent beer for the style.

473 ml can from LCBO. Pours a hazy orange-amber with slightly off white head. Smells bitter, hoppy, peppery, bready, really nice. Taste is mostly bread malt, with some orange and mild bitterness. Tasty, but it smells better than it tastes.

Hazy orange pour with big light orange head. Grass, floral hops. Taste is non-descript followed by spicy hop finish. OK at best. I will not be looking for it in future.

Poured a hazy orange colour with a nice one finger head. Lots of earthy German hops present. Quite well-balanced, with just enough bready malt for support. Not overly sweet. This is a bitter, earthy brew. A subtle fruitiness shows up as a nice extra bit of complexity. The finish isn’t as drying as you’d expect, given all the hops.
