Can from matt7215. Thanks for a beer I’ve never heard of, from a place I’ve never heard of. Just consider me geographically challenged! Pours an amber tinged gold with a multifinger off-white head. Strong noble aroma over pale malt. Near medium body with frothy carbonation. Tastes mildly bready, and there’s a decent amount of hop. Not excessively bitter, but quite tasty. I like that it’s not pasteurized. Live beer is the best! Like this one.

Re-Rate June 2005Bottle. 500 mL. Had to go outt and get a bottle to satisfy my curiousity after the pint. Amber body, moderate head. Crisp, mildly hoppy bitterness throughout with a touch of malt in a supporting role. Average palate. Much nicer experience. 6/3/3/6/14
Re-rate June 2005 Draft. Firkin pub in Toronto. Have been meaning to re-rate this for a while since the rating below is a bit inadequate but this sample was not up to par, or at least my memory of what this beer can be. Amber brown body, small white head. Aroma of malt and a touch sweet. Flavour has a pleasant mild bitterness to it under moderate malt. Marred by a disproportionate amount of sweet buttery caramel. Made me think diacetyl but I really couldn’t pleasant. Still a pleasant enough pint, moderate mouthfeel but it was distracting rather than additive. Will strive to re-rate yet again. 5/3/5/3/12
Original Rating Pilsener? Ok... Amber coloured lager. Fairly well balanced. Not exceptional but I order it quite frequently as a life save in non-beer bars. 6/3/6/3/15

Decent lager, wish there was a bitter finish, nothing really in the finish. Otherwise good malty body.

Beautiful hazy amber color. Unfortunately, its thin bubbly head fades within a minute. Good malty nose with some hoppy and herbal notes. Taste is refreshing and well-balanced. It carries some light bready hints and has a long and moderately bitter final. This is a very nice craft lager. I would like to have it on tap...

second re-tasting post Molson take over: Still without a doubt one of the better all malt lagers I’ve tasted and certainly still among the best in Ontario but no longer "super premium"....it has definately suffered "dumbing down" in the flavor profile since Molson’s bought it and I am readjusting my scoring accordingly.... 500ml bottles are gone and it now comes in a high tech 1/2 liter can. Plain looking labeling, no freshness date or lot code. ... Pours a golden-orange, high effervescence in the pour leaves a smallish chunky cap that leaves within a couple of swallows and forms a nice lace and ring. A fairly well pronounced grainy nose with a slight floral aroma....gone is the toasty-sweet imported malt tones! Sharp ale-like bite at the front but then the grainy-bready tastes balance the citrus hopped taste with a medium body that produces a sandy mouth feel then the finish is crisp medium dry with the bready after taste somewhat deminished from the Pre-Molson days. Still a good brew....an all grain/malt amber lager with some ale traits....ale-like in "bite" like a steam beer. Very well balanced but the last few months the malt profile seems to be a bit flat....like cheaper, paler, lesser quality domestic malts have been substituted for the imported grains used in the original recipe. ...and YES, Molson has’nt changed the formula....but they are using a different ( cheaper?) flat tasting malt.>>>This is sad because I liked this beer and have bought it for years but there are several better premium micro lagers with richer import malts and fresher taste these days.

Good lager, not chemical as most of them. Good foam and creamy taste. nice dark golden colour and good malty features.
