Commercial Description:
The first pilsner was brewed in 1842, over a hundred years ago, in the Bohemian town of Plzen. Revolutionary at the time, it was a fired-brewed beer characterized by a rich golden colour, sweet malty flavour and an abundance of hops. Our brewmaster visited the Czech Republic to study their methods and in honour of our 20th anniversary we are proud to share his interpretation of this classic beer style. Similar to original pilsners, our direct fire brewing process and combination of specialty malts yield a beer with a deep golden colour and delicious malt flavours. Natural spring water creates a soft pure background on which Czech hops impart a fresh fragrant aroma and bitter finish.

I tried this beer on March 12, 2008 after purchasing from one of the local LCBO outlets. The poured a translucent gold colour with a generous head that quickly disippates. The aroma was very malty with some slight hoppish hints. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was very grainy, with very little bitterness.

473 mL can courtesy of matt7215. Thanks! Golden color with a big creamy head that does diminish quite quickly. Aroma is bitter pils with some grain and skunk. Very sweet with a grassy, bitter finish.. Very sweet.

Pours a deep golden straw color with a moderate head. Grassy aroma overall, fainter traces of peppery hops and earth. Pretty full and slightly sweet flavor or pepper, dirt, hay, a sweeter than normal pilsner malt flavor. Good spicy and flavorful hop finish. Beer felt plenty full for the style and had lots of flavor.

Tallboy can from 8-pack, no bottles yet? Deep bronze-yellow with minimal foam. Very grainy aroma, taste and feel, with just enough tang and bitterness for my liking.

341 mL bottle. Standard hoppy pilsner aroma with some malt, though a little flat. Nice golden colour, with a decent white head that disappears pretty quickly. Hop flavour with a clean finish without bitterness. A pretty good pilsner, though it fails to make what can be a boring style interesting like it’s lager counterpart. Good stuff though!
