4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Gooner (136) - Chatham, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 23, 2002
This beer is heaven! Slighty burnt / roasted chestnuts and medium dry prunes. Dark orange in colour. Perfect malts, hints of citrus, some late hops(like Oakes said). Too bad this is seasonal. :( Ranks very high with Wellington Iron Duke Strong Ale and McAuslan Oatmeal Stout. Creemore Springs urBock is another Canadian classic.

April 20 2012. 473ml can poured into pint glass. Aroma was sweet and spicy fruits. Pours a beautiful ruby red opaque with 1" foam toasty head. Head fades to thin cap but nice thin lacing. Taste is sweet caramel rounded out with a bitter hops to give it well balanced flavour and just enough aftertaste.Syrupy palate finishes dry. Amazing. Amazing. (yes it is that good)
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Digital_Aura (77) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 30, 2012
473ml can. Average, creamy, off-white head in pint glass. Diminished quickly to decent lacing. Deep tawny brown colour (Lovibond 21/22). Maple scent. Also cookies and figs. Tastes like a million bucks! Detected flavours of licorice, coffee and maple to name a few. All vying for the space on your tongue, and all winning at different points! Initial tasting is heavily unbalanced - that is its sweet, sweet, sweet... With only light bitter play. Full bodied syrupy goodness with lively palate. Top scoring!

341ml bottle

I tried this beer after purchasing a 6 pack from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a translucent dark red, with brownish hints, and little or no head. The aroma was sweet malt, with a hint of hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is sweet dark malt, some chocolatey tones, and a little hoppish bitterness.

I can't wait until the Christmas season again in 2003. Sweet enough, dry enough, heavy enough... near perfect.
