2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Serving: Draft at the brewpub.
It has a black color with ruby highlights and a small, foamy, off-white head. The nose is roasty with some wood, a touch of soy, and caramel. The taste doesn’t come through as strong as the nose and takes an odd earthy turn. Notes of dirt, wood, mushroom, and a slight roastiness round things out. Thankfully it’s crisp and it has a clean finish. This one starts good but really takes an odd turn when it hits your tongue. It left me wondering if this is really what they intended.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
I sampled this beer on tap at the brewpub in New Orleans. The beer had a dark brown color with an amber hue and a moderate, creamy off-white head that had modest retention and cling. The beer had some grainy and grassy hops aroma with a bit of caramel malt too. A somewhat bitter hoppy beer with mild sweetness too. It was a bit watery and thinner with lower carbonation and a dry finish.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft. Deep brown body with a reddish hint. Caramal and malt on the nose. Taste was mild and sweet. I didn’t get the malts I expected but still had a nice overall taste. Nothing remarkable but a decent beer.
