Tap, brewpub. Pours a clear copper body with a minimal fizzy off-white head that completely vanished. The nose is full of iced tea like crystal malt, big turnoff for me. Can’t even smell the hops over all this sweetness. The flavor has some light to moderate bitterness, but the malt is all crystal, too much residual sweetness. A little too thick and clingy from all the sweetness for an IPA. Crystal malt...yuck. This one just wasn’t my bag.

On draught at brewpub. Pours a amber. Color with no head. Carmel aroma and flavor. Slight underlying hop flavor. No noticable hop bitterness. Not a conventional IPA.

This was the one brewpub sample I had time for while in the Quarter a few weeks ago. Nose of spice and resin, and a surprising hint of wheat. Pours a medium sparkling copper with an average off white creamy head of moderate duration and fair lacing. I perceived the flavor at first to be too one dimensional, but after the brew had a chance to warm some it opened up with more malty sweetness to balance. Spicy burnt finish. Medium dry lively body that feels astringent at the finish. Though not a heavyweight for the style, it paired well with my Oysters 3 Way which were exceptional.
