2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20On draught at brewpub. Pours a amber. Color with no head. Carmel aroma and flavor. Slight underlying hop flavor. No noticable hop bitterness. Not a conventional IPA.

This was the one brewpub sample I had time for while in the Quarter a few weeks ago. Nose of spice and resin, and a surprising hint of wheat. Pours a medium sparkling copper with an average off white creamy head of moderate duration and fair lacing. I perceived the flavor at first to be too one dimensional, but after the brew had a chance to warm some it opened up with more malty sweetness to balance. Spicy burnt finish. Medium dry lively body that feels astringent at the finish. Though not a heavyweight for the style, it paired well with my Oysters 3 Way which were exceptional.
