3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 3fourths (6950) - Straßgiech, Bavaria, GERMANY - JAN 26, 2012
draft at the brewery. clear gold with a white head, average retention. starchy, pungent dried grass hop character, certainly comes close to saaz in nature, and while the pilsner malt is biscuity and cracker-like, it’s also excessively husky and rough, growing more brutish in it’s coarseness the more it’s consumed. so, while it seems to be lagered long enough to clean it up and provide adequate crispness, and the hops are snappy and appropriately musty / pungent, the coarseness wears and i’m left not enjoying the last few sips as much as the first.

Draft @ brewpub. Clear gold. Glassy. Old world hops in the aroma signal a genuine attempt at making a real pils! Grassy hops. Very dry and clean and Germanic. Thin but crisp and clean. Not bad.

Tap @ Brewery: Pours a thin pale gold, very light and thin with a subtle husk aroma and almost no hop bitterness in the finish. Great on a hot day, but that’s why we have macro breweries.
