Beerbrewer85 (4), Portales, New Mexico, USA does not count Jul 27, 2008 These other reviews are correct. This beer is not really a red beer. It was sort of amber in color, and the taste was refreshing, but there wasn’t much of an aftertaste. It was darker than the pilsner that everyone else in the restaurant was drinking. The beer is expensive. Two lunches and one beer was over $40. The brewpub was a nice place to eat in, as it was air-conditioned and it was over 90 degrees in July. Nice place to stop by for a beer. This beer beats the Abita Amber and all of the other beer joints serving the macro’s on Bourbon Street. brianprentiss (390), Mountain View, California, USA Jul 6, 2008 At $8 a cup from their brewery in the French Quarter, I was hoping for more, this beer just doesn’t have much to offer. BeerFanDan17 (359), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Jun 13, 2008 Not really a red in my book--more like a pilsener. Flavors were more like a domestic lager. popdoggy (100), USA May 26, 2008 Yeah, this beer was copper colored.
nothing was bad about it, however nothing was memorable about it either. i dont think i would try this one again. outshune by the black forrest.
FishManLA (164), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA Apr 27, 2008 On tap at the Crescent City Brewhouse which is the only place I know of where you can get their brews. "Red" is a misnomer. Its more a brass/copper color. Thin quickly dissipating fizzy head. Surprisingly potent nose of malts, smells like fresh baked bread. Such a nice aroma that I sat there smelling it for awhile before tasting. Taste is hoppy and dry with subtle notes of nuts and spice. A rather complex and interesting taste for a Vienna. Mouthfeel is simply of water, but this beer compensates for that with really good well-rounded taste. Finish is short and moderately hoppy.
