3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 drjay44 (1734) - Salida, Colorado, USA - MAR 12, 2011
Draft. 6.2% ABV, 60 IBU, Chinook and Willamette per the Brewery in Gunnison. Pours a medium lasting white head, with extensive lacing, over a slightly hazy light amber (SRM 7) body....nose is light toffee/caramel, light hop spice....taste is toffee/caramel malts tones to start, with light cereal, then very light citrus and pine, with a medium bitter finish...mouth feel is medium, carbonation medium. This is a lighter take on an IPA, with some of the mellower characteristics of an ESB. The nose, as served, is too light for an IPA. However, the hops do not dominate the malts as in many, making for a nicely balanced and easy drinking pint. BJCP 7/3/13/4/6

Aroma is average malt (toasted grain, bread, meal), heavy hops (perfume, flowers, spruce), light yeast (barnyard) with notes of honey and apple. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation, and a sweet, bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity, and heavy bitterness. Candied hop and fruit flavor mixed with toasted grains.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Zinister (1423) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 31, 2007
Lightly dusty apricot color. Pine, citrus and resin on the wonderful nose. Big upfront hop flavor...very piney and resiny. Ends with anice drying pithy grapefruit flavor. The hops really stick around the whole time (Willamette and Cascade)...long after taste. Darn good beer from Greg.
