Taster at a local. This is obviously no longer an Amber, and the breweries web site calls it an American Pale Ale. Pours a thin white head, over a clear, yellow (SRM 3) body....nose is light cereal, grass....taste is cereal, light malts, finishing with a light hop bitterness....mouth feel is light, carbonation medium. While it is nicely balanced it is a light version of a Pale Ale. This would be a pleasant "patio beer". BJCP 6/3/11/4/5

Bottle. Pours clear tawny with a spare, fizzy, off-white head, diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, caramel, nutty), average hops (grass), average yeast (dough) with notes of cola. Light bodied, thin texture, soft carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness; lightly sweet finish.

Zinister (1423) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 31, 2007
Light hazy apricot with no head. Hop nose mixed with some citrus. What it does have on the aroma is fleeting in the palette. Low carbonation as well. Only and okay beer.

Pour is hzed golden yellow with a thin white head...smell is strong with grapefruit....malt sweetness seems the same as the pale...grainy and sweet at first with a light citric bitterness...

Draft: Clear and light amber. Smooth but light body went down fairly easy. Toasty malts with a faint sweetness. Decent balance, but unexciting. Definitely a session beer for the masses.

i earned my thirst the hard way, toiling up a dusty colorado hillside, sweating enough to irrigate an acre of mojave mangoes. back home after my exertion, and gasping like a fish out of water, i could have drenched that thirst with tap water, but being a major beer geek, i reached for a bomber of local brew-- in this case, a crested butte white buffalo. it was terrifically quenching, owing largely to it’s resemblance to cold water. this beer has some caramelly aspects, mostly in the color, being a shade of golden-orange suitable to caramel corn-- it has visible veins of something i guess to be yeast, so, given the name "white" i was ready to assume it was loosely in the wit style. it isn’t. is "weenie" a style? it’s understated aroma is butterscotch, and dry grassy hops. the head was not disposed to exertion and napped all the while i was taking tastes and notes--and, rather than waking up refreshed, merely lapsed into a coma and died. it quaffs nicely-- with little to either excite approbation or ignite condemnation to the dozing taste buds it glides over. it’s carbonation is mild, it’s body is like water-- only more so. a slight apricot-tort flavor, a touch of yeast and a brief distress signal of bitterness from a lost detatchment of hops. here’s everything you adore in a cold glass of water, plus a cute beer accent and a pleasant buzz.
