Bottle. Deep orange hazy hue with a small white rocky head. Strong smell of tropical fruity with a sweet caramel note. Aroma of passion fruit and mandarin, light citrus notes without bitterness. Starting off sweetish it gets medium bitter soon and turns into nice bitter finish. Very pleasent and easy drinking while still full flavor. Flavor is also fruity with a somewhat stronger malty note of caramel. Medium carbonated with a medium body it a keeps a refreshing lightness and a straightforward flavor profile but still offers some complexity to be discovered. It leaves a medium strong fruity light bitter aftertaste and stays for quite a while. Very good.

Muddy, dull amber. No head. It ultimately smells like Weet-Bix™, which for those who don’t know is a very dry, grainy cereal block available here in Oz. And little else! Drabby, pasty, yeasty, bready; little to no hop. Ugh! What has happened? Assured it was in cool transit to Australia and cool stored once here. Not worth the rate but here it is.... Honey sweet, prunes and oxidised sherry. Nasty autolysis going on in the swallow - well least it was bottle conditioned. Third beer in a row of bad form. Not the right time to buy a lottery ticket!? Maker: Hohenthanner Schlossbrauerei, Munich, Germany *** Beer: Crew Republic Foundation 11 German Pale Ale (bottled, unfiltered, 330ml) *** Style: American Pale Ale (APA) *** ALC.VOL.: 5.6% *** "Crew Republic Pale Ale is not an ordinary Pils, or Weizen, or Helles. It has been hopped three times as highly as a Pilsener for a genuine and uncompromising taste." [brewery note, my translation] *** Colour: Hazy orange, with a small, off-white head. *** Nose: Mango, grass, a wee bit of herbs, some caramel. *** Texture: Medium body, hardly watery at all. Modest carbonation. *** Taste: Citrus fruit mixed with surprising caramel malts at the start, as well as pine and herbs. Hoppy and resinous middle, again with caramel in the background, and grapefruit. Resin features strongly in the finish, with some citrus and herbs in supporting roles. Long lasting aftertaste of pine, some caramel. *** Impressions: Unusual for an APA in its initial malty notes, but then the expected flavours of pine and grapefruit kick in. A lot of depth to this one, but not recommended for those who prefer fruity APAs/IPAs.

Bottle 33cl. Misty amber, no Co2. White head that fades quickly. Aroma reminds me of pilsner, with some malt touches. The taste is bitter with little development. The beer is not very lively in the mouth.

Pours a hazy amber golden color, topped with a fairly small white head, no real retention. Excellent lacing. Fruity aroma, sweet and fresh feel to it. Mildly biscuity aroma later on. Sweet and fruity taste, very nice mild bitterness in the finish. Very nice.
