COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cricket Hill has done it again! We have brewed the magnificent dark lager that was a favorite of our tour goers in last year’s trial experiment. Our Cricket’s Nocturne combines a mild crispness with subtle toasty, chocolate notes to make it the perfect thirst quencher on days when there’s a chill in the air. It’s a great accompaniment to hearty Autumn or Winter meals, or dessert by the fireside. This American dark lager’s unique balance of easy drinkability and richness of flavor make it a classic Cricket Hill delight!

New Beer Distributors, NYC bomber ($7.25): This is probably too expensive for this bottle, but oh well. In any case, this is not an amber lager, but looks like a Schwarbier or at least a dunkel with a near black body with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate and roast and lager smell. Taste is chocolatey, sticky, and a bit sweet. Aftertaste is roasty chcolate. Not bad.

Dark coffee dark chocolate aroma and flavor. Roasted barley and toasted malt, bread, grain. Sticky palate, not too bitter or sweet. A hearty beer. It tastes a little bit like a tree but that isn’t a bad thing. Really enjoyed this one.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a dark brown body with a three finger off-white foamy head lasts a good two minutes, head gently fades to valleys, light foamy lacing clings to the sides of the glass. The smell had some light chocolate, coffee and malts. The taste was bittersweet - combined spectacular between previously mentioned flavors. The palate was about a medium, rolls nicely between tongue and mouth leads to a nice smoothness, slightly sessionable, coffee aftertaste and finish. Overall, what a nice Munich Dunkel that I would come back to pretty quickly.

Draft at beer fest Pours black with a medium sized brown head. The aroma has chorale and sweet need. The taste is chocolate and big roasty hints.

8/26/2010. From bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Malty aromas with dark fruit. Light spicy flavors with roasted malt and fruit. Not sure why this is listed as a Vienna?

Pours black with a foamy tan head that stays long. Nose is malty with hints of bready yeast. Grassy notes come through while drinking, but the core flavor profile is sweet malts. Medium body, mild carbonation. Pretty good for a Lager. I’m not usually a fan. This is almost like a hybrid between a Baltic Porter and a Lager.

Bottle. Black with a thin tab head. Nose is extremely chocolatey. Taste follows suit with a touch of roastiness. Medium mouthfeel with a decent carb. This really doesn't taste like a lager. Nice offering. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bomber. Pours a dark brown color with a one finger of off white head. Aroma of sweet roasted dark malts, and not much else. Taste is sweet and malty, with a touch of chocolate and bread.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small off-white head. Nose is quite malty with some toasting in there and a bit of caramel. Taste is light and slightly bitter, but has a similar palate as the nose. OK.
