COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Reserve #2 is a very limited release of a Bourbon barrel aged Porter! This year we will be treated to the flavors drawn from barrels of Four Roses Bourbon, just in time to chase away the winter blues! This release is available in 22oz. bottles only and is being limited to 100 cases. It is THE beer to seek out, find and enjoy! Look for it in finer liquor stores in late March.

Bomber rec’d in trade from ?? Aroma is bourbon and dark fruits. Taste has some complexity but just too much bourbon to enjoy as a beer

22 oz bottle shared by Tmoney99 (late summer 2011). Pours dark brown in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, chocolate, some sweeter malts influenced by the bourbon barrel, light coffee notes, vanilla and a hint of alcohol. The flavor was decent, but the beer was a bit thin to carry off the barrel as well as it could have.

22 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter. Pours a very dark but clear reddish-brown. Small head soon reduces to a bubbly ring. The aroma is sweet with a clear controibution from the bourbon barrel. The barrel aging is even more apperent in the flavor where it dominates the sweet malts. Medium body with a satisfying, but higher than ex[pected level of carbonation.

Backlog of ratings. Thanks to someone at one of bu11zeye’s tastings. The look is dark brown in color, no head, and dark. The smell is malts, alcohol, wood, bourbon, and dark fruits. The taste is fruits, wood, alcohol, malts, and some fusel alcohol.

Bottle thanks to jesterdeal! Pours a very dark brown/black with a tan head. Aroma is slight Bourbon, coffee, and vanilla. Taste is a perfect balance of bourbon, vanilla, coffee bitter, and dates. This is so smooth its like a chocolate milk. The body is medium to heavy with light carbonation. Awesome porter!

Vanilla, fruit, with hints of chocolate waft the nose. Pours a thick black with a brown ring and minimal lacing. The taste is boozy, with wood, fruit, biscuit flavors present. Bitter alcohol finish and aftertaste. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, while good the strong alcohol taste gets in the way.

22oz bomber. Pours a very dark brown color with a finger of foamy tan head. Aroma of light bourbon, vanilla, caramel, roasted malt, chocolate, and a bit of oak. Taste has some bourbon and vanilla flavors, chocolate, oak, and a boozy finish.

This is probably the first beer I’ve had where I really noticed the barrel aging aspects, and probably the best porter I’ve had yet. Pours opaque, very dark brown with a thin, tan head that disappears quickly. Aroma is noticeably woody, malty, and somewhat boozy. Taste is very boozy for the abv and the bourbon/tannins are very apparent especially in the middle. Malty sweet and a bit syrupy in the beginning. The slight burn and sour notes from the tannins cause this robust porter to fill your mouth. I am normally bored with porters, but I like this one a lot.

A; Very boozy. Hints of smokiness and chocolate. A: Looks pretty good. Brown thick head dissipate quickly. T: Alright on the tastes. Way way way boozy. 6%ABV? No way. Hints of some roasty malt. Chocolate. goes down a little watery. P: Very boozy. watery. Decently smooth on the palate. Overall this beer is alright. Too boozy and it covers up the other flavors.
