Bottle: Pours a transparent dark mahogany amber with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a lightly sweet toasty dark caramel malty nose with some mild roastiness. Starts with decent fullness and a semi-sweet toasted dark maltiness with some earthy noble hop bitterness before a smooth bittersweet finish with a hint of lingering milk chocolate. A pretty true to style and drinkable dark lager.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours clear burnt sienna toward ruby with 2-finger off-white head. Nose is Munich malty, prunes, brown sugar. Tastes somewhat sweet, with dark malt, cacao, and prune notes. Not bad; not too complex, but fairly rich. A decent beer from CH, and I’m glad to see them bottling bigger beers now.

Bomber shared with friends no of whom which enjoyed, sad to say no love for the home state. Pours a brune body with a yellow off white head. Ashy dusty malt character, some light toasted malts, caramel tones, a bit dry and mineral like. Pencil shavings a hint of lead, lagered notes, a hint of burnt malt. I think i’ll stick to their IPA.

Courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Pours mahogany with tan head. The aroma is dark roastiness, a bit of rauch malts and some caramelly malt sweetness. The taste is similar with dark malts heading toward a hint of burnt malts. By midway a pleasing level of rauch surfaces to keep it interesting. It ends with mild caramel to malty sweetness, a thin layer of chocolate and a sense of lager-y yeastiness. It leaves behind some dark malt roastiness. Loved it!
