COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
No mere beverage could satisfy the thirst of the courageous and gallant soldiers who stood guard over the colonies of the British Empire. Their thirst could only be quenched by a full-bodied hearty Ale; an Ale balanced with rich flavorful hops. We are proud to offer our interpretation of this English style India Pale Ale for those who loong for the time when once your duty was complete, the taste of a fine Ale was reward enough for a job well done.

Off the tap. Pour is a relatively light golden color, bordering on yellow, with a small white head. Nose is of hops, light citrus, and faint caramel notes from the malt. Taste is light and refreshing, focus on the hops.

Thanks to my cousin for getting me a bottle. The body has a slight opaque character. The head is barely existant with a khaki tint. Grapefruit and light peanuts in the aroma. There is also a little bit of caramel. A mildly bitter flavor with old grapefruit juice. There was also some wood and peanut shells. It is bland and unimpressive. Not much of anything to it.

Pours hazy orange, thin white head. Aroma has notes of caramel, biscuit, some pine, touch of citrus peel. Taste is some pine, touch of citrus, with mostly caramel, some toffee, biscuit and slightly bitter finish. Even a touch of metal. Maybe a good hoppier amber ale, but not good overall.

Reddish gold pour without much head. Nose is pale malts and a little bit of citrus and pine hops. Taste is... boring. A slight sweetness from the malt, but there really isnt very much hop character for an IPA. Lacks any discernible bitterness. Where the hops at? Not the worst beer in the world, but really not very good.

Pours a golden copper in the glass. Musky flavor with a dry grass (hay) bitter aftertaste. Some dry grass aromas and herbs. Slight oily slick feel in the mouth. Overall, it’s OK not too exciting.

Location: Draft at the Capital Ale House - 11/23/10

Aroma: The nose is citrus and floral hops with some metallic notes
Appearance: It pours a golden-orange color with a thin white head
Flavor: The taste is fairly boring, malty and hoppy flavors that just don’t quite work
Palate: It has a sort of metallic feel on the mouth, it is medium bodied, and fairly fizzy
Overall Impression: This was a pretty uninspired IPA. It had a more metallic feel to it then I tend to like. It just lacks that really nice hop flavor that the good IPAs always seem to pull off...

Slightly hazy, golden honey coloured blonde with a touch of orange body and a very thick, dense tan head - looks great! Aroma of soap, corn, wheat, bath water and a very hint of grapefruit - odd and not pleasing at all! Light-bodied; Mild taste of just about nothing, perhaps some light malt, funky sugar and a touch of fruits - no hops at all. Aftertaste shows less of the same - completely watery and mild, with the standout feature the corn taste near the middle. Overall, a very bad attempt and a mild beer if anything - not really worth sampling, even (or especially?) if you like IPAs! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle as part of a six pack, purchased from Liquor Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 21-November-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 09-December-2010.

Quite disappointing. A style that’s being nailed all over the USA just can’t miss this badly and stick around for long. It’s not an english IPA imo, neither is it a good american IPA or APA. It just misses, the flavors aren’t well integrated and the palate is too syrupy.

Elwood (1967) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - NOV 1, 2010
Serving: Draft at the 2010 Fall Nova Brewfest.
Aroma: The nos is light and rather nondescript, but I do pick up light citrus notes.
Appearance: It pours an orangish gold color with a small, foamy, white head. Lesser head retention.
Taste: There are light citrusy notes, a bit of pale malt, and a little caramel as it warms. It certainly isn’t going out of it’s way to impress you.
Palate: Light to medium bodied with average carbonation leading to a medium, slightly bitter finish.
Overall: More of an APA than an IPA and not very impressive at that. Not worth seeking out, but sessionable if it is one of few options.

FROTHINGSLOSH (3388) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 10, 2010
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden-amber color with a large foamy yellow-white head. The aroma was bitter, harsh, moderately skunky but overall subdued for an IPA. The flavor was biter and harsh with light vague fruity hops and a bit of skunk. Very little going on here. The finish was very short. Medium body. Disappointing.
