4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 JahNoth (1039) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAR 19, 2009
Funky English hop aroma sits above a light golden ale. Frothy head is quickly gone. Watery texture gives way to a grassy, fuggles infested IPA. Slight caramel, mild apple and pear, malty with lots of resin. Lingering pleasant hops. All English all the way. F me, I like this. it’s not a citric bomb, but it is a quaffer, and tasty.

bottle, acquired via trade with lmgraz1, thanks lou. pouse a clear, dark straw color with a nice foamy head. aroma and flavor of sweet malt and some hops. very well balanced and slightly dry on the finish. the only negative I found is that for an IPA it could have been a little stronger on the hops. Overall, a very solid offering from Cricket Hill. this would make a wonderful session brew!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Drake (5232) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - AUG 24, 2010
UPDATED: OCT 7, 2010 Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a faintly hazy amber color with a medium head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of earthy and herbal hops with faint malty notes. The taste is citrus and herbal hop notes with and earthy note. There is a mild lingering bitterness. Medium bodied. Refreshing. Nice beer.... and my 200th IPA. Woohoo!

Originally reviewed: 4/15/09. Pours a clear dark orange with a modest 2-finger head on top. Retention is suprisingly great as I drink this beer. Beautiful sticky globs plaster all over the glass edge. A thing of beauty.
Smells of oranges, all-spice, bananas, cream, and flowers. Well-rounded scent I’d say. Mouthfeel is crisp, yet creamy as it goes down. Flavor is of muted hop bitterness, finishing ever so slightly spicy. Nice malt balance on this one. If you were expecting a hop bomb, this is not it (as most of the reviewers apparently were). Remember, this is an English style, not American. And as an English IPA, this is spot on from my experience. It is perfectly blended with the hints of bitterness and malty sweetness. Recommend.

A good beer - but not necessarily a good IPA. By that, I mean that the taste is very good but not very hoppy (which is typical of an IPA). It’s actually sweeter than hoppier. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Aroma of spicy, peppery hops, some pine resin, mild citrus, sweet, caramel malt. Flavor again has some nice pine resin and more toasted malt character than the sweetness in the nose seemed. Still some fruity sweetness lingering though as well. Full bodied and pretty sticky. Maybe it’s not a bruising IPA, but sub-3 average? Shocking!

22 oz. bottle. English style ipa. Very drinkable and refreshing. The hops are not in your face undrinkable. A nice change.

Pours copper with an off white head. Smells of citrus, pine and wildflowers with some hay in the background. Taste is of grassy hops with some decent citrus notes on the finish.

Slightly cloudy golden orange with a big rocky white head. Big salty/spicy hop aroma. Hops right up front in the form of some impressive piney, grapefruit rind flavors. Hops dominate throughout. Slight "off" flavor at the finish, otherwise, pretty good! thanks to Lou18 for the trade.
