COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
No mere beverage could satisfy the thirst of the courageous and gallant soldiers who stood guard over the colonies of the British Empire. Their thirst could only be quenched by a full-bodied hearty Ale; an Ale balanced with rich flavorful hops. We are proud to offer our interpretation of this English style India Pale Ale for those who loong for the time when once your duty was complete, the taste of a fine Ale was reward enough for a job well done.

Cask at GBBF. Golden with a small white head. Malt and pine hop aroma. Sweet malty flavour with earthy notes. somewhat boring.

Cask at GBBF. Very slightly hazy gold beer. Light and semi dry palate. Juicy but mild hops. Pleasant enough.

Originally reviewed: 4/15/09. Pours a clear dark orange with a modest 2-finger head on top. Retention is suprisingly great as I drink this beer. Beautiful sticky globs plaster all over the glass edge. A thing of beauty. Smells of oranges, all-spice, bananas, cream, and flowers. Well-rounded scent I’d say. Mouthfeel is crisp, yet creamy as it goes down. Flavor is of muted hop bitterness, finishing ever so slightly spicy. Nice malt balance on this one. If you were expecting a hop bomb, this is not it (as most of the reviewers apparently were). Remember, this is an English style, not American. And as an English IPA, this is spot on from my experience. It is perfectly blended with the hints of bitterness and malty sweetness. Recommend.

The bottle says ipa. This is misleading. I would call this one an ipa light. Not say it isn't good. I give it great marks on drinkability just the flavor profile is thin and watery but still tasteful enough and has enough kick to drink all night. Enjoyed but not what you would expect ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pours a cloudy yellow/amber with a massive rocky white head. Scent is sweet malts and straw. Taste is mild, very mild, some malts, lemons and grass. To call this an ipa is a joke.

Definitely hoppy, but there is a significant fruit flavor and little malt taste. Skunky and dry in the finish. A bit crisp with an odd aftertaste.

Poured into a lager glass from a 12 ounce bottle with no freshness date.

A: Slightly murky amber with a thin white head that shows good retention and clings to the glass long after the beer is gone.
Edit: I normally don’t care about lacing, but this beer is leaving lacing rings on the glass as I take each sip, that’s pretty neat. Changed from a 3 to a 4.

S: Bland. Slight citrus and floral notes come though, but they’re faint and boring.

T: Again, bland. Slight hops come through to meet the malts, but it’s a bit boring with a confusing mix of lemon and floral notes. This isn’t doing anything for me.

M: Medium bodied but lacks the carbonation snap I expect in an IPA.

O: This doesn’t do anything for me, I wouldn’t buy it. Thanks to my friend for it though!
